You need a verified email address before you can submit, which AlternativeTo uses to discourage spam.
Suggest the app
Use Suggest new application from the account menu, and fill in platforms, licence, descriptions and tags. Put links in their own fields; descriptions may not contain links, emails or phone numbers.
Decide on priority review
Standard submissions usually sit in the backlog for at least a few months. Paying $5 once moves the app to the front, where it is usually reviewed within one or two business days. The approval criteria are the same either way.
Describe it as an alternative
Name the products yours replaces. That is how people find it on the site.
AlternativeTo's own rules
- Paying for priority review does not buy approval.
- Using a user profile to advertise products is not allowed, and such accounts are blocked.
- Offering rewards for upvotes, or creating fake accounts to like or review your product, can drop it in the rankings.
- Coming-soon, private beta and invite-only products are declined; open betas are generally accepted.
